Missouri Assessment Program, End-of-Course Results
Each spring, students who attend public schools and public charter schools are tested for their knowledge and skills in English language arts and math. Students in grades 3-8 take the Missouri Assessment Program, or MAP test; students in grades 5 and 8 are also tested in science. High school students take End-of-Course (EOC) exams in English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and Government.

The tests are standards-based and are designed to measure specific skills for each grade. The tests include multiple choice and written response questions. There are four levels of achievement - Below Basic, Basic, Proficient and Advanced.

MAP and EOC results are publicly announced in late August, based on guidelines set by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
