logoA new pair of shoes can brighten anyone’s day. A new pair of shoes changes the way you feel. At Confluence Academy-Walnut Park, each student received a new pair of shoes from community organizations. Read the summary to get a glimpse of their experience.

Walnut Park“Service International, along with the St. Louis Family Church, graciously came to Confluence Academy-Walnut Park to donate free New Balance athletic shoes to each of our students. The volunteers made two visits to our campus - once to measure each student’s foot, and the other to deliver the shoes. On November 4, 2014, the shoes were delivered. The students were extremely excited to receive their new shoes. Pastor Jeff Perry and the St. Louis Family Church also brought their entire production team to do an anti- bullying presentation.

The performance was quite entertaining and the students were engaged throughout the entire presentation. The students learned about bullying, how to prevent it, and learned the importance of being nice to each other on a daily basis. The performance was split into two assemblies to accommodate each grade level: students in K-3rd at 9:00 a.m. and 4th – 8th at 10:00 a.m.

While the students were enjoying this awesome presentation, the volunteers snuck away to deliver the shoes to each classroom. At the end, the volunteers created an archway for the students to pass under and hi-five each other as they went back to their classrooms. It was such a joy to have this great opportunity for the students.

Walnut Park The students were all excited and expressed joy and appreciation for their new shoes. November 4, 2014, was a huge success and will never be forgotten.”
