From October 19-20, 2014, more than 600 students from the state of Missouri attended the DECA leadership conference. Confluence Preparatory Academy is in its first active year as a DECA chapter and sent two students to the conference.

CPA DECA“Two Confluence Preparatory Academy students, Jocelynn Brooks, sophomore, and Jone’e Rogers, junior, attended a DECA leadership conference at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The students were exposed to DECA’s student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. The students participated in a two-day conference with other DECA members from around the state. The conference activities included workshops on interviewing skills, a panel discussion with young entrepreneurs, Jaylen Bledsoe of Bledsoe Technologies, and Tanya Hamilton of Independent Youth, as well as a professional etiquette workshop with Naretha Hopson of Ever-Appropriate Etiquette Institute.

Additionally, students participated in role play scenarios for the opportunity to apply some of the concepts learned in their marketing classes to various business situations. Lastly, students evaluated and voted on DECA candidates who were running for district and state level DECA officer positions.”
