A choir is to a holiday celebration as a jingle is to a bell.

On November 22, the choir at Grand Center Arts Academy will perform at the Macy’s Festival of Lights celebration. The celebration starts at 4:00 p.m. in Kiener Plaza. The GCAA choir will take the stage at 5:53 p.m. for an 8-minute show. The choir has 150-175 students in grades 6-10.

The show features two songs – “Where Are You Christmas?” with soloist Alex Betts, sophomore; and “Jingle Bell Rock” with soloist Viktor Freesmeier, sophomore.

It’s the third consecutive year that Macy’s has invited the GCAA choir to sing at the annual event.

“This has become an incredibly important performance for the vocal music program at GCAA,” said Drew Cowell, vocal music teacher. “This provides our students an opportunity to serve the St. Louis community by sharing the art they are working so hard to master at GCAA, and they have a blast doing it.”

“Public performances such as this are crucial in the development of our students’ artistic mastery and foster a strong sense of community pride,” Cowell continued. “We value and celebrate our successful performances, especially the dedicated students who make them possible.”
