2012 grad pictureAcross the country, high school seniors are creating memories with prom, sports awards, class trips and scholarship dinners. They are looking forward to the moment they have dreamed of since they became seniors – graduation.

Seniors from Confluence Preparatory Academy are taking it a step further by charting a path as the second graduating class in school history.

Confluence Preparatory Academy will celebrate commencement for the Class of 2013 on May 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ferrara Theatre in the America’s Center Convention Complex.

Eighty-seven graduates will receive diplomas; 10 are graduating with honors. Many plan to go to college; students were accepted to more than 20 colleges and universities, both two- and four-year schools. Some will join the military. As of mid-May, scholarship earnings were $165,000.

“We are proud of our graduating seniors and what they’ve accomplished,” said Dr. Chester Bluette, principal. “As the second graduating class in our school’s history, they are continuing to set examples for students who will be seniors next year, as well as for all CPA students.”

Confluence Preparatory Academy is the first high school in the network of Confluence Charter Schools. It opened in 2008 on the campus of Confluence Academy-South City with ninth grade students. In 2009, CPA moved downtown, next to the Central St. Louis Library, opening its doors to ninth and 10th grade students. The school is sponsored by Missouri University of Science and Technology.
